The Indian Muslim Community Steering Committee or IMCSC was first formed in 2004. This pioneer team formulated the IMC Strategic Plan 1.0 with three goals:
Enrich Religious Life
Instill Social Resilience
Enhance Community Relations
With the changing dynamics in the IMC, the then South Mosque Cluster—home to the 7 Indian Muslim mosques and the Nagore Dargah—was tasked to engage with the IMC in 2017. During the course of this engagement, the following three areas of focus were identified as a clear and present need for the community, leading to the formulation of the IMC Strategic Plan 2.0:
Religious Leadership
Religious Education
Underserved Segments
After a hiatus, the IMCSC was formally revived in 2019 with various stakeholders from the community. A fourth focus area—Heritage and Identity—was added to create the IMC Strategic Plan 3.0.
In 2023, a new IMCSC—comprising 4 Muis Council members—was appointed for a term of 3 years. The focus areas were refined to the following four pillars:
Religious Leadership Enable IM Asatizahs to be change agents in the IM community.
Religious Education Strengthen IM mosques and IMOs to deliver Islamic learning.
Social Resilience Intensify outreach to underserved segments of the IM community.
Heritage and Culture Leverage on IM shared history and identity to rally the IM youth.
In this latest iteration of the IMCSC, tangible actions, KPIs, timelines and resources have been identified and set.
